Living in the Moment
We hear this all the time. It's something that I struggle with and I think a lot of others do as well. We're always thinking about what happened at work earlier in the day or should I eat the cookie instead of doing what we should. It could be anything from how the day started or what's coming next in a big project you have. Although, this is where everyone gets stuck and it's something that we all need to start noticing more of when we're with family and friends. Even when we're by ourselves.
I definitely can say that I'm accountable for not always living in the moment as well, but it's something that I want to change. Sometimes we lose track of time when we're with people or in our work. This can be good and it can also be not as a great path. I can be out with my friends and am having an awesome time but I will all of a sudden have a glimpse of what I have to do. Now at this time, I would normally start thinking about how I need to get it done, and so I wouldn't have to stress over it later on. Although, most of the time I need that moment to not stress over something little to have a good time.
A few strategies that I use are I try to think of the bigger picture, that at the moment I do not have to leave and do work. Something that I consistently remind myself of is that taking this break isn't going to kill me and affect my performance in my job. Another idea that seems to help me when I'm trying to live in the moment is that I remind myself, that I'm never going to get this time back and that I should enjoy this moment, which always helps. Especially if I'm with the people that I love. Now, I also struggle with when Im trying to have time for myself to relax and I never really know how to cool down. This may sound silly but writing on this blog is something that I enjoy doing myself, and allows me to become less stress, knowing that Im writing about something that I want to. So next time when you check on yourself when being with the people that you love or with yourself always try to take time to remember why you're here in the moment and go from there.
Remember to:
Laugh, Smile, Breath and Relax
